International mobility
Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences is very committed to student and teacher exchanges. Every year there are altogether over 100 incoming and outgoing students doing their learning periods to get familiar with the European life, culture, knowledge and skills for their future.
Student exchanges
The Kemi-Tornio UAS co-operates with higher education institutions in Europe, Canada, China, Russia, USA and Vietnam. The UAS is involved in several international exchange programmes (Socrates/Erasmus, north2north, FIRST and Nordplus) to help students to find study places abroad. International exchange students are welcome to come here and assist them in getting familiar with the region, the UAS and their studies. After the exchange period all the accepted studies of the students are fully recognized by the education units.
If you are a foreign student of higher education and wish to study as an exchange student at Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences, you can find information on the studies in the Study Guide for International Students or you can contact the International Coordinator Ms Annikki Pulkkinen.
Practical training
The departments of the Kemi-Tornio UAS are eager to send their students to do their practical training in foreign countries. The UAS has sent students to European countries, Australia, Canada, China, India and Nepal. The training is recognised in the students’ study programmes. The UAS supports students’ placements through the EU/Leonardo da Vinci programme. CIMO (= Center for International Mobility) coordinates several programmes and offers grants for covering living costs in the host country. More information can be found on the website of CIMO.
The Kemi-Tornio UAS assists international students to do their practice in the local companies or working life. These students are able to help companies to internationalise their activities, to find contacts in their home country. The advantage of these students is that they know very well their language and the working culture of the companies. Of course after their practice students wish to get benefit of the experience and know-how of the Kemi-Tornio region.
If you are a foreign student of higher education and wish to do your practical training in the Kemi-Tornio region, please contact the International Coordinator Ms Annikki Pulkkinen.
